“Oprah Unveils Shocking Call: Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s $14.65 Million Mansion Gets Overrun by Ducks – And They Need Her Help!”

Being neighbors with Oprah Winfrey undoubtedly comes with plenty of perks—but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle took the idea of community spirit to the next level when they called in the TV mogul to help them with a very unique problem at their $14.65 million Montecito, CA, home.

According to Oprah, 71, the Sussexes, who live just a stone’s throw from her expansive Santa Barbara, CA, estate, didn’t hesitate to pick up the phone and ask for her help when they ran into a “duck problem” at their own property over Easter weekend.

“I got a call from Harry, Prince Harry, on Easter Sunday,” the longtime TV host revealed during an appearance on Kelly Ripa‘s podcast, “Let’s Talk Off Camera.”

“He says, ‘Sorry to bother you, O, but we have a duck problem here.’ A duck had come into their yard and laid their eggs, and had all these chicks.”

Putting on her best Prince Harry accent, Oprah explained that Harry and Meghan didn’t feel their property was appropriately equipped to house the feathered family, so he asked if they might be able to escort the ducks to the pond on her land instead.

Luckily for Harry and Meghan, Oprah was more than happy to welcome the animals with open arms—however, she had one request for the couple: that they wait until her best friend Gayle King‘s grandchildren, who were visiting at the time, could make their way to the pond to see the ducks arrive.

“I said, ‘Wait until I can get the kids to come down to the pond so they can see you put the ducks in the pond,'” Oprah went on. “And he goes, ‘No, we’re coming right away, we’re coming over!'”

However, the Sussexes’ plan to safely transport the ducks to Oprah’s very sizable abode hit a huge hurdle when the mother escaped out of the car door when arriving at the home.

“As he opens the [car] door, the mama duck flies out, and he’s got all the baby ducks in a box,” Oprah revealed. “We’re chasing the mama duck who is in the front yard and has flown to the other side. WE’ve got her ducks. Harry’s running after [her], Meghan gets out, she’s running after, chasing the mom and trying to get her to come back to her ducks.

“And for like half an hour, we’re running around with the ducks in a box. We have a video, it’s the funniest thing I’ve ever seen.”

While that exact video has not yet been publicly shared by any of the trio, Meghan did post one short clip of herself watching the mother duck leading her babies across the driveway of a home on Easter weekend.

The video shows a stunned and elated Meghan with her mouth open in surprise as the tiny ducklings run up to their mother, who then guides the youngsters into the yard.

Harry and Meghan have enjoyed a yearslong friendship with Oprah, who interviewed them for their now-infamous primetime sit-down in which they discussed their decision to leave the royal family. CBS”Wishing you a happy Easter full of love… and surprises!” Meghan captioned the clip.

Though Meghan and Harry became neighbors with Oprah in 2020, when they snapped up their Mediterranean-style estate in the tony California community, they have been friends with her for much longer—having hosted the TV star as one of their guests at their wedding ceremony back in May 2018.

They also turned to her in 2021 when they made the decision to speak out publicly about their decision to quit their roles as senior working royals.

Oprah sat down with the couple at an unspecified location near their respective homes for a primetime interview that aired on CBS—with millions of viewers tuning in from around the world to hear the Sussexes share their story.

At the time, Meghan was pregnant with the couple’s second child, Lilibet, who was born in California just a few weeks after the interview was broadcast.

Though the couple have taken steps to ensure the privacy of both Lilibet and her older brother, Archie, Meghan has been more open about sharing glimpses into their family life on her Instagram account, which she relaunched on January 1 of this year.

In the months since, she has posted multiple images and videos taken in and around the enormous dwelling, several of which have included her children—although she makes a point to conceal their faces whenever they appear.

Lilibet also featured in the first branding image that Meghan shared when launching her new lifestyle company, As Ever, which featured a snap of the mother and daughter duo running across the lawn at their home.
